Starting the Journey with Purpose

Ezra Valdez enrolled in ITOL Recruit’s Project Management Job Programme in February 2021. Determined to move away from her previous role as a crew member at McDonald’s, she focused on gaining skills and certifications that would help her build a career in project management.

Earning Recognised Qualifications

With support from her tutors, Ezra passed four industry-recognised certifications:

• PRINCE2 Foundation
• PRINCE2 Practitioner
• AgilePM Foundation
• Change Management Foundation

She also completed the Simulated Project Management Assignment, giving her the practical insight to back up her new credentials.

Navigating the Job Market with Support

Once in the recruitment phase, Ezra’s CV was reviewed and professionally refined by a Recruitment Advisor. She then began applying for 20 to 30 roles per week, with around 60% of applications tailored using cover letters. Thanks to the quality of her CV, she only needed to make minor adjustments for most roles.

Her applications focused on positions such as Junior Project Manager, Project Coordinator, and Project Support Officer.

Persistence That Paid Off

Ezra received 20 job interview invitations and initially accepted a Project Administrator role. However, the hours weren’t the right fit, so she declined. She continued applying, drawing on the recruitment advice she’d been given.

After four months and 275 job applications, Ezra secured a role that matched her goals: a Graduate Scheme Continuous Improvement Coordinator.

Settling Into the New Role

Now thriving in her new position, Ezra is rotating through departments every four months as part of her onboarding and training. She enjoys a hybrid setup, commuting to the office once a week and working remotely the rest of the time.

The project management programme gave her the skills, structure and support to make a full career transition.
